BZ Pending Posts

This week, I created a social media asset to address an issue I’ve noticed in #BornZillennial: pending posts. The group receives, on average, 500+ post submissions every day, and it can be difficult to review them all. With the help of my team of moderators, we are better equipped to at least review all the pending posts and either approve them to the feed or decline and give feedback. However, even with the extra eyes reviewing the submissions, the team and I realized that a majority of the posts, even those with the perfect Zillennial content, were not executed well enough to be approved to the page. (e.g. uncropped memes, unengaging captions, etc.) As we began declining more posts than before and providing feedback as to why the submissions were declined, we also received more responses inquiring about overall submission expectations. Therefore, I decided to take this week’s assignment to address the issue of submissions and pending posts through this graphic:

I would include a caption to this post that states something along the lines of “There are hundreds of posts being submitted every day, so we can’t promise that any certain post will be approved to the feed. However, here are some tips to improve your chances:”

I want to note that, following the drop-in lecture and consulting my team of moderators, I have decided not to post this graphic just yet, but I will. Over the weekend, I tried something new in the group. I approved only a few posts over the weekend to test a theory I had: when there are fewer posts on the feed, those that are approved would receive more interactions because they are not buried in a flood of posts. And this turned out to be true; after scrolling through the page at the end of the weekend, all but a few posts received over 1k reactions. That’s an extremely strong engagement rate compared to previous weekends.

I was prepared to post this graphic to the group, but I noticed something else this weekend as well: I hadn’t received a single direct message from anyone inquiring about the status of their pending post. Therefore, it feels like the wrong time to push this message out to the group. I plan to post this graphic sometime this week after I switch back to the normal approval rate. I also plan to go live in the group this week, and I want to announce the live in the caption attached to this graphic. After I post my expectations, I want to give members a chance to respond and ask questions in real-time through the live session. I also think it will be the perfect way to attract members to my first live video in the group.
